Compassionate therapy for who you are.

Ellen Butterfield, LMFT

I’ve been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1996. I have given presentations at colleges, professional organizations, hospitals, and parent groups, and have had articles published in psychology magazines. I have facilitated therapy groups for women, for people going through divorce, and for children, but my most fulfilling work is helping individuals and couples. I’m also very familiar with the 12-Step program and have seen patients benefit greatly from the combination of therapy and working the Program.

In addition, my own past experience in the movie and television industry allows me to help actors and writers maximize their creativity and increase their career success.

Individual Therapy

For several decades I have helped patients, each of whom comes into therapy with his or her own unique personality, a particular way of thinking about themselves and others. Everyone has their own distinctive struggle with the issues and problems causing them pain. Some people come in with unresolved grief or anger regarding old or more recent trauma, some come in with relationship issues. Your therapy will be specific for who you are, and what you need.

Couples & Relationship Therapy

Let’s face it – There are no classes in school or college that specifically teach how us how to navigate a love relationship well! How we saw our parents or caregivers relate to each other, and what ideas we’ve cobbled together about relationships cause many couples to end up sabotaging their interactions with each other, despite being well-intentioned.
